Today was the first Hough Bike Bus ride, the first of it's kind in the city of Vancouver. The Hough Bike Bus has been in the works since summer of 2025 and is thanks to the combined efforts of Local Links, Cycle Vancouver, the City of Vancouver SafeRoutes program, Bike Clark County, Hough PTSA, and Vancouver School District.
Bike Buses promote youth being fun, safe, social, and healthy. Bicycling and walking to school has also been shown to increase academic performance versus being driven.
The Bike Bus is a group of trained adult volunteers who ride along a set route on specific mornings and “pick up” youth to ride, walk, or scoot to school–much like a school bus. Parents, caregivers, and community members are invited to ride along too! Either to support their student or as a volunteer. If you, or someone you know, would like to be an official ride volunteer contact us at houghbikebus@houghptsa.org.
Upcoming rides are April 15, May 20, and June 17.
