Staff Lounge Remodel

The Staff Appreciation Committee has spent the past two weeks remodeling the staff lounge and the results are incredible. For years, the Hough staff lounge has consisted of a few tables and chairs and a handful of small countertop appliances. But no running water. It’s a space our staff use to take a breath during the very short breaks they get and it simply didn’t meet their needs.

The PTSA worked with a local muralist to paint a gorgeous mural around the room, and we sourced furniture, built a kitchenette, and added small touches to make the space feel warm, inviting, and worthy of our incredible staff.

Thanks to local business donations, we added cabinetry for a new sink (plumbing is in the works), a new espresso machine from the Hough Foundation, and coffee donated by Paper Tiger.

When educators feel supported and cared for, they are better able to show up with patience, energy, and creativity. Investing in their wellbeing helps reduce burnout and turnover, strengthens school culture, and ultimately creates a more stable and positive learning environment for our children.
